Young Music Pass

Discover a world of classical music for free

Every year some of the world’s finest musicians, orchestras and ensembles come to perform in Edinburgh at the International Festival. With the Young Music Pass you can see them for free!

From world-class orchestras at Usher Hall, to breathtaking soloists, singers and instrumentalists at The Hub and The Queen’s Hall, the International Festival’s classical music programme has something for everyone. Each year we give away hundreds of free tickets to local young people, so you can experience the best classical music from around the world on your doorstep.

What’s the deal?

Young Music Pass (YMP) holders are eligible for:

  • one free under-18 ticket for themselves
  • one free adult ticket for a parent or guardian

to a classical music performance at the International Festival, subject to availability.

Tickets are awarded randomly via a ballot system.

The ballot has now closed.

Successful YMP members will be informed of their tickets by Friday 14 July.

To be eligible you must:

  • be aged 18 or under on 27 August 2023
  • live in the Edinburgh and Lothians area
  • have an interest in classical music

Terms and Conditions

To be eligible, the participant must be 18 years old or under on 27 August 2023, live in Edinburgh and the Lothians, and have an interest in classical music.

Tickets are allocated through a random ballot draw.

Successful members are eligible to one free under-18 ticket plus one free adult ticket for the show they have been selected for. The free tickets must be used by the named participant and cannot be transferred to another individual.

The ballot process is as follows. From Wednesday 17 May, YMP members can add their name into the ballot shows across our classical music programme in the Usher Hall, The Queen’s Hall and The Hub venues.

The ballot will then close on Monday 26 June and those members randomly drawn to receive tickets will be informed how to book their free tickets by Friday 14 July.

Successful members will then have until Monday 24 July to book their tickets, after which they will be released to another participant.

Offer is subject to availability and available on specific priced tickets. It cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers or discounts.
