Online Booking

If you have booked with us before, you should be able to log in with the same email address and password that you previously used. If you've forgotten your password, you can request a new password by clicking the ‘Forgotten your password?’ link on the account page.

In-Person and Phone Booking

You can book tickets on our website or via telephone on +44 (0)131 473 2000. Our phone line opening times are:

The Edinburgh International Festival Box Office is based at The Hub, Castlehill, Edinburgh EH1 2NE. You can book in person at The Hub at the following times:

Ticket Fees

All ticket prices are inclusive of fees. The Edinburgh Playhouse applies a £1.75 theatre restoration levy charge to each ticket. In line with our commitment to environmental sustainability, we would encourage you to opt for electronic tickets, however, if you choose to receive your tickets in the post you will be charged £2 for postage.

Young Children

Please note that no children under five years of age will be admitted to the Edinburgh Playhouse and children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult.

At the Festival Theatre and Studio, in the interests of all audience members, babies and children under four years old are not permitted in the venue. Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by a responsible adult.

As a general rule, we advise that you contact us in advance to check if a performance is suitable for very young children. There is no charge for infants under the age of two as long as the child sits on the lap of an adult, and no ticket is required. Children over the age of two will require a seat and a paid ticket. If your child becomes restless, you may be asked to leave the auditorium to avoid disturbing other customers.

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers can be used to book International Festival tickets. You can buy gift vouchers for any amount you wish and check your balance online at any time. Gift vouchers expire 24 months after the date of purchase.

Theatre Tokens

If you would like to redeem Theatre Tokens when booking tickets, please phone the Box Office on +44 (0)131 473 2000. Theatre Tokens cannot be redeemed online.

Concessions

Low income benefit recipients, students, under 26s, arts workers, D/deaf and disabled people are entitled to a 30% concession discount.

Under 18s get 50% off tickets (except for The Lost Lending Library, for which all tickets are £15).

All concessions are subject to availability. Proof of eligibility may be requested at venues.

Young Music Pass

Young Music Pass members can apply for free tickets to classical music events for themselves and an accompanying adult (subject to availability).

Special Offers

A 20% discount applies when you book two or more events taking place at The Hub (includes concessions).

A 20% discount applies when you book tickets to both Cécile McLorin Salvant: Ogresse and Cécile McLorin Salvant In Concert (includes concessions).

A 25% discount applies when you book both Budapest Festival Orchestra concerts on Tuesday 8 August: A Model For The Future at 6pm and Dvořák Inside Outat 8pm (includes concessions).

A 20% discount applies when you book both London Symphony Orchestra concerts on 18 August: The Road to Turangalîla at 6pm and Turangalîla at 8pm (includes concessions).

A 25% discount applies when you book tickets to both performances by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Company, Programme 1 and Programme 2 (includes concessions).

Ticket refunds and exchanges

No refunds will be given except in the event of cancellation of a performance. Tickets may be exchanged up to 48 hours before a performance to another performance of the same show, subject to availability. A £1.50 fee per ticket exchanged will be charged, as well as any difference in ticket price that may occur as a result of the ticket exchange. Ticket prices may vary from previously purchased prices.

We have partnered with Secure My Booking to offer optional ticket protection for all Edinburgh International Festival events. Our ticket protection allows you to recoup 100% of the paid ticket price (including any fees) if you are unable to attend your event for any number of covered reasons, including illness, travel delays, adverse weather conditions and more. Access information

Signing up for the Access Pass allows you to book online for wheelchair spaces, essential companion tickets, seats with the best view for BSL interpreted performances, touch tours and relaxed performances. You also can request to receive the Access Guide, which is produced alongside our brochure with detailed information about venue access and our accessible performances programme.
