BSL Interpreted

In a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted performance, the interpreter stands onstage, either at the side of stage or integrated into the performance and provides a linguistic and artistic interpretation for people who are D/deaf or for whom BSL is their preferred language.

Introducing the BSL Interpreters

Amy Cheskin is an experienced performance interpreter who is passionate about integrating BSL in a way that opens the entire show to its intended audience. Amy has worked on most stages in Scotland (and several outside), including for Birds of Paradise Theatre Company’s Purposeless Movements.

Yvonne Strain works with a particular focus on BSL interpreted integration and has engaged with a wide range of productions and genres over the past 25 years. Collaborating with companies such as National Theatre of Scotland, Yvonne's passion lies in contributing to a better provision of BSL Interpretation throughout the Scottish arts Industry and beyond.
